SWEET! I LOVE the old sonic games!

One day the whole world will be rick rolled.....
:iconmaster-gav:
now this has got my interested.
seeing as I LOVED the first few sonic games. some of the best ever in my view.
But then again, sega is always the type to hype things up only to disappoint the fans.
but all i can say is we will have to wait and see.

MAKE MISSLE GO BOOM!!!! SEXY >=3
All the people in the house say "WTF!?!"
:iconmanji-luo:
this is very very very true...however, several fans have outlined EXACTLY what Sega would need to do to fix this error and make Sonic good again. in fact, let me make this even easier and give you the links you need to see:

[link]
(the article linking to the blog post explaining why sonic team can't make a good sonic game)

[link]
(and a link to an article by one of the most outspoken sonic fan/games journalist i've ever seen, Jim Sterling).

Simply put, it's Sonic Team's problem. it's not Sega or anyone else really messing it up. Sega was just trying to advertise their crap, so they get the blame for hyping stuff up. Sonic Team is the group that messed up though, mostly due to them being forced to work overtime on churning out Sonic games. here's a quote from the first article i linked:

Even worse is the description of Sonic Team as little more than a "sweatshop," kept on a leash as an external Sega studio and forced to do little more than assembly line work and milk the Sonic cash cow. "There’s no doubt that Sonic Team have lost their quality touch," wrote Andac in 2007. "They are worse than talentless: they are without passion. Bored, weary, closed-minded and out of touch with any sense of what makes games good anymore."

so there you have it.

HOWEVER! absolutely NOTHING has been said as to who is producing it. But considering that they're calling it a project (hence Project Needlemouse), chances are Sega has taken the liberties to assemble a good team to do the job, not necessarily made up of members from Sonic Team.

An example of something similar to this is prevalent in Final Fantasy X right on game start-up. One of the first things you see on the few screens before you get to the title/new game/continue screen is the symbol that Jecht has tattooed on his arm (also the same symbol Tidus wears on a necklace), with the name "Final Fantasy X Project" right below it. Now, Square DID pull a lot more resources for this FF game than usual, as it was their first major FF game on the PS2, and regardless of what anyone says, it's still an amazingly good game (despite being easy, imo).

But whether or not they assembled a more concentrated team to work on it, or just pulled more resources (like a better orchestra to compose music, better designers, etc.), or both, is not something i know. but the fact that it was a Project means that a lot of time and work was put into it. If you're a big game company and you're working on a project, usually you will see it through until the end (unless you're 3D Realms and making a game called Duke Nukem Forever, BUT THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT!)

so a lot of time and money is put into a project taken on by any company. even 3D realms took a lot of money for making DNF, but like i said, that's besides the point. regardless, the new Sonic game is called Project Needlemouse. And they're making it 2D.

so it's a throw-back to something you like, and they're making a big project out of it. regardless of how it turns out, you know it's gonna be big.

sorry for the rant xD but everyone, including you, has very very good reason to believe that this is the real deal, here. at least, until we find out who all is working behind the scenes to make this.

I was a huge fan of the oldschool sonic games, I hope they study the old games and take notes on them in order to fix it, because two or three more games like the recent sonic games and... well... let's just say I don't want to imagine what'll happen to my favorite blue hedgehog.

If there is indeed a shorty fire burning on the dance floor, don't call 911, put it out yourself with the sprinkler.
:iconmanji-luo:
i'm sorry, but i think sonic has already hit rock bottom. there isnt much more they can do to make it worse unless they really really try

I hate to say it but I think you're right. Of course I've always said you should never say "it can't get any worse."

:iconmanji-luo:
i'm the same way. you really can't ever get to a point where it CAN'T get any worse!

which is why i said they'd have to try to ruin sonic from this point...so far they haven't been trying very hard and they've been succeeding very well in that, though =/
