aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaand go! it's ok! you can freak out now! you already did it with the Marvel buy-up, so you might as well do this with this new bit of info!
they hired the CO-FOUNDER, and HIS current dev company, Wideload Games.
so first off, that doesn't mean they bought out bungie. i'm pretty sure microsoft is going to hold onto that part of its company for a while.
second, halo Reach is already deep into it's development. it might be close to nearing completion, or at least a beta or a demo. if Disney DID pick up bungie, they probably wouldn't change the whole format of a big, popular franchise that is sure to make them tons of money.
no offense, hun, but you reacted exactly as i would expect people to react. good job on the emotional response, but regardless,

i'm glad that they only got the co-founder, so that would mean we're sure not to see mickey mouse doing a musical with the chief and see sarge johnson helping goofy on how to be friends that would be horrible to see, but why does bungie need to be so big in the market now a days? isn't it's franchise selling like it use to or something?
Fine so I jumped the gun, I'm a average stupid human big whoop You didn't have to make a federal case outta it, but just because things aren't what they seem, dosen't mean they're not possible, Strings lead to sources, you never know, but thankfully it didn't, and hopfully it dosen't either
if disney was going to get its hands in halo it would only be in the movie......and even the details about what there are going to do with the movie are being kept top secret.

tl;dr version: yes, they're up to something. no, it's probably not bad.
normal version: Disney IS up to something, but i don't think it'll be anything really bad. like the article says, they've got 1200 people working on video games....that's a TON of people! most video game companies have 200 or less.
and Disney is a corporation, so there's really no way they can go bad with a deal like this. this will get them money in the long run if they do things right and don't stick their hand in the batter before the cookies are baked. (which is actually what happened to Bungie when Microsoft acquired them. they nearly didn't release Halo because of the b.s. that Microsoft was putting them through after Microsoft bought them).
so if they're smart, which Disney is (i mean, how many things have you seen from Disney that DIDN'T have at least SOME stroke of genious in them?), then they may wind up like Activision and EA and publish a bunch of games. now, whether they'll turn out to be evil, money-grubbing bastards like the both of them is completely up to anyone's guess, but the person interviewed in the article said they wanted to become a major player in the video games market. so they're definitely getting a good start by making this choice.
